Wendy Williams: The New Sheriff In Town

I recently read an article about Wendy Williams not being able to book A list celebrities for her TV talk show. For example, Diddy and LL Cool J will not come on her show because she previously accused them of being homosexual. But does anyone really care to hear from them? Seriously? Diddy is still signing people to his label and ultimately letting them fail and putting his name all over the place. I enjoy the fact that she has a mixture of guests on her show new and old celebrities. I like my talk shows like my DJs, a mixture of the old cuts and the new ones. I hate when people act like the only thing your audience wants to hear if of the current year, like there hasn’t been decades of good music or actor/actresses. I have noticed that people will not watch her show because they feel that she doesn’t talk about her personal issues. Maybe that was the case with the radio show, but on her TV show, she talks about traditionally taboo topics such as age, weight, miscarriage, wigs, Botox, etc. I just wonder how long people will hold her past against her? I understand that she did hurt some people, however I think she was doing the same thing that other journalist did and still currently do. She has even apologized if her actions have hurt any children. She says celebrities should be more careful about their business. Which I agree. In the society we live in, people are watching and ready to criticize. In becoming a celebrity that is what you agree to have happen, despite how wrong it is to have paparazzi constantly following you. Everything she reported was hot topics that were out for the public to see. At least she wasn’t following these celebrities around with a camera. Celebrities came on her show willingly. I also think there is a double standard here too. Many people followed her cutthroat interviews and celebrities continued to come on the radio show but yet now people want to persecute her for that. She would not have become the queen of Media nor have been inducted into the National Radio hall of Fame (the second woman to be inducted) without a large following. Everyone has a past and at least she is willing to be accountable to it. There are people who don’t acknowledge their wrong doings or even go so far as to place the blame on someone else for their actions or lack of action. Her show keeps it real and keeps you on your toes. It’s a new era for talk shows. Oprah paved the way for black women to have talk shows but Wendy is taking to the next level with real transparency.

Yeah I said it! And how you doing?
